2001
Years ago I worked for a daily newspaper in Modesto, California. We worked late into the night and when I finished my shift and left for home, one of the only busineses open on H St. was Ward Bail Bonds.
The solitary figure was always at his desk, killing time watching a black & white television and waiting for his next customer, who would always arrive, sooner or later.
