In the late 1800s, courtship in the frontier West of the New Mexico Territory was marked by a blend of ruggedness and chivalry.
Cowboys, often away for extended periods, would court women with a mix of respect and practicality.
They might share tales of their adventures tending to cattle.
Small, thoughtful gestures, like a hand-picked wildflower or assistance with daily chores, spoke volumes. While words were often sparing, actions and shared experiences forged deep bonds.
